Answer: Café Alona is a lunch, dinner, togo lunch boxes, catering, hosts private events, catered events, parties, weddings, dinner Wednesday- Saturday with Specials on Wednesday & Thursday with regular dinner menu, Host International Cuisine on Friday & Saturday ( each week hosting different country) with regular dinner menu offering Traditional Italian -Glutton Free & Vegan options, Lunch Tuesday - Friday with full menu.

CHEF ALONA KENNEDY

Chef Alona comes to us from the Philippines where she started cooking at a very young age with her Father. Chef Elcamel  was a Baker by trade. Chef Elcamel catered special events regularly for government officials, so Alona's standards were  top notch service. Alona lost her Father to Leukemia in her twenties. Alona then went on to finish a degree in Aqua Culture to support the local fishing industry in her area of Philippines. Auqa Culture not, but instead she followed her love for cooking by moving to be a Chef in the Middle East. After many years in the middle east she meets an American Mr. Charles Kennedy a Jeweler to the movie stars. Married at 29 and moved to Saltville where she supported Charles fight  to protect a mountain's natural beauties. learning English as her fifth language she helped build bed and breakfast called Raven Ridge over looking the Channels Natural Area Preserve. Alona helped Charles to develop and run the Resort.  Alona now hosted private events high in the mountains. She was Che for many select  groups of people regularly. Alona was doing all of this while also working as a Chef in Abingdon at a historical restaurant as Head Chef. Alona was then widowed as the husband was killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident. Over coming the loss of  Charles she then sold Raven Ridge Resort. Frank Kilgore a trusted friend to the Kennedy Family  was the brain child to dedicate a trail through the mountain in Charles Kennedy's name. It was called the Brumley Gap Trail. Alona  now widowed for years as working Chef in Abingdon decides to invest into herself along side of her fellow restaurant owner Jeff Smith who drives her to trust her talents. International Cuisine it is  a year of success. Alona is  meeting new friends while enjoying old friends in supporting her new venture. Alona gives all credit to God as she says, " I am just a vessel. It is He does the cooking."

CHEF JEFF SMITH

Chef Jeff is a Bristol Native who has returned to our area to start a New Restaurant Culture in his Hometown. Jeff grew up just up the road from the Alona's Café  . He also started working as a child in his own mowing business (EMPIRE) where he learned arts of customer service. Jeff also worked for his Grandfather in the Arbor Industry on week ends and summers while still mowing. Jeff started his Restaurant career as a Waiter for Bristol's Choice Restaurant. Waiting tables while attending classes as science Major at Virginia Intermont College . He also bartended and cooked at McGilcuddy's under Chef William Brown. Taking a break from college Jeff Opened The Shore Café. The Shore was the place to go to see Local Bands and even National Acts. Keeping The Music Culture Alive was his mission statement for The Shore Café. Downtown Bristol still keeps the culture alive and is proud to have been a part of the Community. Just two years of this Jeff decided to make a move to NY to help Wal-Mart start a National Optical Program. As an Optician he went from city to city opening and developing many Optical Stores. He won the title of Number 1 store for Number 1 company in the World. Jeff exhausted from moving around so much returned to Bristol to finish Biology at Intermont College. After College he used biology to start Investscape Landscaping ( A Landscape Design Company). Jeff always worked in the Restaurant Business. Working as General Manager for Vinyard while finishing his degree . It was as a part time bartender in Abingdon VA Jeff befriended Chef Alona.
